home   business card	Profile Welcome! I am a classically-trained piano instructor with over 15 years of teaching experience. I teach students of all ages and all experience levels, from "grandkids to grandparents." I studied piano at Oberlin Conservatory, and have a BA degree from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota in music and communication in cultural context. Teaching Style and Approach My teaching is grounded in life-long training: my mother was an award-winning piano instructor, and my own teacher and mentor. I grew up listening to her teach at home, and absorbing her methods and positive attitude. I follow my mother's teaching philosophy: "With the right encouragement and guidance, everyone is capable of making beautiful music." Each student comes to me as an individual with a unique personality and learning style, and I work with each person individually to design the piano method and lesson to make sure it fits their style and meets their needs. One of my teaching specialties is rekindling the love of making music in adults returning to the piano after many years of not playing. Studio My piano studio is part of my home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have two pianos: a Steinway grand, 5'10 1/2" mahogany model L built in 1960, and an 80 year old Conover upright piano.
